Abstract
The high demand for clean and green energy is due to the rise in global temperature as the climate is affected using fossil fuel for energy generation in the arctic region. Nunavut is rich in renewable resources like wind and solar, but almost 100% of their energy demand is met by diesel generators. Considering the soaring diesel prices, a hybrid wind power plant is proposed in this study and further compared to a similar size hybrid solar PV power plant. The hybrid wind power plant is the successor with lowest unit rate of 37.7₵/kWh and a payback period of 9.5 years.
